Adrián Balseca

1989 · Quito, Ecuador

Balseca’s artistic practice studies extractivist dynamics and their environmental impacts, as well as historical-economic processes related to the implantation and consolidation of the paradigm of modernity. Balseca was founding member of the art group La Selecta – Cooperativa Cultural, and formed part of the community art collective Tranvía Cero, both based in Quito. He was selected for the 21st Contemporary Art Biennial Sesc_Videobrasil | Imagined Communities, São Paulo (2019); and osloBIENNALEN First Edition 2019–2024, Oslo. Recent shows include: Estela Blanca, Ginsberg Galería, Lima (2019); Portadores de Sentidos, Museo Amparo, Puebla (2019); Draw a Line to Make a Landscape, Condo New York – Alexander and Bonin, New York (2018); Energ(ética), Monumento a los Héroes, Bogotá (2017).
