Barbara Kapusta is concerned with verbal and non-verbal language and the communication between persons and things. Her work explores the relationship between the material character of objects and the physical existence of the observer. A central, recurring element in her artistic practice is the conjunction of the body with materiality and speech. Materiality becomes entrusted with a queer agency that allows for diversity and vulnerability. Recently, her objects, films and text-based works have been shown in: The Giant, Gianni Manhattan, Vienna (2018); Vice Versa: Our Earth Is Their Moon, Our Moon Is Their Earth, Kunsthalle Praha, Prague (2018); Empathic Creatures, Ashley Berlin (2018). Kapusta currently lives and works in Vienna.
