Ilya Fedotov-Fedorov studied genetics (bioengineering) and art in Moscow. The main motif of his art is the use of scientific procedures, from which the artist adopts the main characteristics: the depiction of biological processes and forms from the cell to the habitat, linguistic features and ways of presenting knowledge, methodological principles and types of representation. With their help, he reveals the subjective nature of the acquisition of knowledge and its dependence on individual experience. He shows that we perceive and describe the surrounding world in accordance with the language we use. His 2018 exhibitions include: Preservation Instinct, Vacation Gallery, New York; Reagenz, Dreiviertel, Bern; Poisons Museum, Anna Nova Gallery, St Petersburg.
