Kudzanai-Violet Hwami

Kudzanai-Violet Hwami creates intimate images questioning the ownership of identity and ideology, diaspora and displacement. Her practice involves experimenting with digital collages as studies for large paintings, which incorporate oil, silkscreen, pastel and charcoal. Hwami studied Fine Arts at the Wimbledon College of Arts. Exhibitions of her work include: Five Bhobh – Painting at the End of an Era, Zeitz MOCAA, Cape Town (2018); Les Ateliers de Rennes – Biennale d’Art Contemporain (2018); If You Keep Going South You’ll Meet Yourself, Tyburn Gallery, London (2017). In 2019, Hwami will present work at the 58th Venice Biennale as part of the Zimbabwe Pavilion. She currently lives and works in the UK.
