Larry Achaiampong

1984 · London, UK

Drawing on his Ghanaian roots, Achiampong’s solo and collaborative projects employ imagery, aural and visual archives, live performance and sound to explore ideas relating class, cross-cultural and post-digital identity. Crate-digging the vaults of history, he splices audible and visual qualities of personal and interpersonal archives, offering scenarios that expose socio-political contradictions in contemporary society. Achiampong completed a BA in Mixed Media Fine Art at the University of Westminster in 2005 and an MA in Sculpture at The Slade School of Fine Art in 2008. He has exhibited, performed and presented projects within the UK and abroad including Tate Britain, Tate Modern, London; Tate Liverpool; Yorkshire Sculpture Park; Eastside Projects, Birmingham; Documenta 13, Kassel; Copperfield, London; Whitechapel Gallery, London, among others.
