Matt Copson works in multidisciplinary, hybrid forms, drawing on British popular culture, from urban legends and mediaeval fables to comic strips and cartoons, from grunge to punk. His dreamlike, sometimes comical world, tinged with dark humour and irony, is filled with fantastical characters, anthropomorphic figures and amazing animals, particularly foxes and birds. Copson graduated in 2014 from the Slade School of Fine Art. His recent exhibitions include: Down Boy, Reena Spaulings Fine Art, New York (2019); Blorange, Fondation Louis Vuitton, Paris (2018), Eggy and Seedy, Reading International, Reading (2017), Sob Story, High Art Gallery, Paris (2016), A Woodland Truce, The Magazine Sessions 2016, Serpentine Sackler Gallery (2016). He lives and works in London.
