Munem Wasif’s stark b/w photography investigates complex social and political issues with a traditional and humanistic language. Wasif tests the possibilities of fiction by borrowing a familiar documentary language. His interest is often on the concept of “documents” and “archives” and its influence on addressing politically and geographically complex issues. Lately he has extended his practise to other media, including video and sound. His exhibitions include: Jomin o Joban, Mumbai (2017); In God we Trust, Galerie 247, Paris (2015); Salty Tears, Espace Cosmopolis, Nantes (2015). Wasif lives and works in Dhaka.
