NJIDEKA AKUNYILI CROSBY

1983 · ENUGU

Njideka Akunyili Crosby was born in Nigeria and currently lives and works in Los Angeles. In 2015 she was awarded Foreign Policy’s 100 Leading Global Thinkers prize and the Next Generation Prize, by the New Museum of Contemporary Art. Drawing on artistic, historical, political and personal references, she creates densely layered figurative compositions that although they have a precise style, conjure up the complexity of contemporary experience.
